International and Regional Frameworks

The international and regional frameworks on disability rights are a combination of United Nations (UN) and regional bodies that monitor the promotion and protection of rights of persons with disabilities in accordance with their respective governing instruments.  Nation states that ratified the UN and/or regional instruments should ensure their national laws and policies are in line with the principles and rights set out in those instruments.

This section will provide an overview of the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities under the UN framework, in EuropeAmericaAfrica and Asia.
